MOPS Dollar Sale Fundraiser and Mini-Workout Morning

Our MOPS meeting on Feb. 18 was such a whirlwind of activity, you could barely catch your breath! From toting bags and bulky items to MOPS for the dollar sale, to exercising with Kristy Sketeris of StrollerStrides, to doing some serious shopping, every mom could go home feeling she accomplished her fitness goals for that day.

After a hearty meal, our DGL Coordinator Jen laid out the rules for the dollar sale that morning. No pushing, no shoving, no grabbing, no tugging, no running...you'd think she was talking to our Moppets! Of course, everyone behaved beautifully, taking turns and limiting their initial purchases to two items each. That way, every mom had a chance to discover a prize worth purchasing.

Many thanks to our mentor moms and our Hospitality Coordinator Krys and her team for setting up for the dollar sale, and bringing the extra stuff to Helping Hands after the meeting. We are blessed to have you!

When our shopping spree starting winding down, Kristy Sketeris went up front to get our hearts a-pumping again. This time, with an intense mini-workout guaranteed to warm our muscles...and then some. What a way to work off that breakfast!

Kristy also spoke to us about will-power. If you don't have enough will-power to stick with that diet or exercise program, tell your friends and co-workers about it - and keep telling them as you move towards your goal. In this way, you are enlisting them to help you succeed. Her example of shared will-power was preparing for a big race. She told everyone that she was going to do it, so whenever they asked about it in the weeks leading up to the event, she felt even more committed to accomplishing that goal. Another tip: Write down EVERYTHING you eat, from the healthy salad at lunch to those five cheerios left in your toddler's bowl. It'll help you fortify your will-power when you realize that you'll have to write down that you ate your child's leftover mac and cheese!
